Shop This Look: Blazers & Leather
Lately, I've been favoring business professional with some edge. Like preppy school girl meets Joan Jett. Pairing a more tailored piece like a blazer with a casual graphic tee is a great way to switch it up Add some of your fav enamel pins on the lapel and you got yourself an outfit!

Fall Wardrobe Refresh
Whenever a new season is approaching, it's always so tempting to go overboard with shopping as you stand in front of your closet, looking at all of your misshapen sweaters and unworthy overcoats. To keep my spending and sanity in check, I always try to be selective and figure out a balance of capsule and trendy items I can add to bring me into the fall season. Here are my top 10 suggestion for fall...
1) A wide-brim hat - aka a more stylish beanie
2) A silky leopard/cheetah print skirt - wear it with sneakers and a graphic tee or dress it up with heels and a nice sweater
3) Faux leather leggings - I finally jumped aboard the Spanx train and I finally understand the hype
4) Anything snakeskin - flats, heels, shirts, snakes this neutral print goes great with everything
5) Statement sweater - really digging burnt orange shades with stripes
6) Layered gold necklace - all about those dainty details
7) Neck scarf - wear it in your hair or around your neck for a pop of color and pattern
8) A nice coat - splurge item, opt for black or a nice camel brown for a timeless look
9) Statement bag - large, in charge, and full of fall foliage (I tried)
10) A pair of white booties - I wear these with EVERYTHING

Graphic Tees Under $50
Back in my high school days, graphic tees were the bee's knees. I had soooo many Hot Topic favorites on repeat ranging from my favorite bands to random movie quotes (holla at my fellow Napoleon Dynamite fans). Now it seems these statement tees are making a comeback and I think it's teerrific... I'll see myself out.

Feelin Thrifty With ThredUp
Have you ever shopped used? I'm gonna be honest, the thought of wearing secondhand clothing used to freak me out (I blame it on my inner germaphobe). Don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan of thrifting and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm always up for a stroll around an antique store but I've always stuck with used furniture, books, various decor - NOT clothes. Would it look worn? Will I waste my money? Would there be mysterious stains and smells? I was a skeptic. Then, a couple of years ago I decided to order something off of ThredUp (yep, I got suckered in by a Facebook ad) and I have been hooked ever since!

Holiday Gift Guide
Have you started your holiday shopping? I used to brave the Black Friday madness years ago, but now you're much more likely to find me lounging on the couch in my stretchy-pants with a hot cup of coffee loading up my online shopping cart. The older I get, the more I find myself avoiding the mall. Every once in a while it's nice to actually try something on, or see the decorations and appreciate the hustle and bustle of it all, but lately I much prefer taking my time and picking out items from the comfort of home. Here are some on my favorite finds from around the web, most of them are from smaller, independent businesses which I feel makes each gift more unique.

Fashion Friday: Pumpkin Picking
It was the perfect Oregon fall day; the combination of cloudy skies and misty rain, the smell of damp earth and fallen leaves, the most ideal day of course - for pumpkin picking!

Fashion Friday: Hues of Blues
Happy Friday everyone! Lewis and I are psyched to see the Warcraft movie tonight and yes, we will have the matching attire - he'll be rocking the red + black of the horde and I'll be adorning the gold + blue of Alliance (nerd moment if you have no idea what I'm talking about it's cool). So in keeping with the theme of blue, I've rounded up some current faves. Keep in mind some of these items are crazy expensive which I didn't realize until I had to find the links but It's always nice to be inspired by high fashion items. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fashion Friday: How to Pack If You're a Fashionista
Let's face it, there's packing for a regular person and then there's packing when you're that person, I am the later. Sure I'm only gonna be gone for a week but who knows what the weather is gonna be like? Will I be bloated that day? What if that outfit doesn't match my mood that particular morning? What can I say, it is both a blessing and a curse. Over the years I have learned what and how to pack in order to be efficient but also meet my fashion needs so take a deep breath, and let's start packing!
Here are a couple of tips I've learned along the way:
-Pack at least two outerwear items, it can be two jackets in the winter or in this case it was a denim and a utility vest for the summer months. This allows you to reinvent an outfit plus if you wear one of them on the plane, it doesn't take up valuable space.
-Choose pieces that are easy to mix and match with other items, like a plain black jumper or a striped dress.
-I always try to pack only 2-3 pairs of shoes usually a pair of sandals for the summer, comfortable sneakers, and maybe some pumps if you're gonna find yourself in a formal setting.
For accessories, I usually go with one large statement necklace then I try to keep it pretty classic for the remaining items. Bringing a couple of scarves is always a good idea because they can double as hair accessories. To store the necklaces I always either place them in Ziplock press'n seal or use a hair clip to separate them and prevent tangling.
For swimming outfits I brought a cover-up that could also be worn during the day with a short and some jean shorts.
All in all we're gonna be gone for a week and I packed the following items:
-1 pair of jean shorts
-1 black jumper
-1 black skirt
-1 striped dress
-4 shirts
-2 vests, 1 denim, 1 utility
-1 two-piece bathing suit
-1 coverup (also can be worn as a kimono)
-1 pair of black gladiator sandals
-1 pair of flats
For the carry on:
-I always keep the necessities in there, lip gloss, hand lotion, perfume, gum, etc.
-I also keep my makeup bag (which should be a see through baggy and I just realized that after I took the picture) it's always nice to have if you need to touch up or say...you fall asleep on the plane and you smear your winged eyeliner halfway down your face (don't be like me).
-Not pictured - a snack bar. I JUST realized you are allowed to take snacks into the airport!! Do you realize all the money I could have saved by not buying those $5 Kind bars in the airport store?!
To roll or not to roll?!
This has been an ongoing debate, personally I find that rolling my clothes does not save space, especially for my husbands clothes which are thicker and bulkier than mine. I found the the fold method works best for me, I usually place the heavier items on the bottom then add everything else and fold the pants on top, like THIS.
What are some of your packing tips?

Fashion Friday: Off the Shoulder Trend
You might of noticed this trend popping up everywhere lately. While I LOVE the idea of rocking this off-the-shoulder style, I haven't been able to find one that's very flattering for me, it always ends up looking too big and I feel like a blob woman (anyone else have this problem?). I like the idea of pairing this with a denim skirt or high waisted trousers and that it allows you to show a little skin while still remaining classy.

Trending Now
I have been LOVING the trends this spring, this struggle has been real trying not to buy alllll the things. Lately I have been into tassels, jean skirts and off the shoulder tops and dresses. I also think it's pretty cool that the 70s are making a comeback and I am really wishing my mom kept all of her college wardrobe right about now.
What are some of your favorite trends this season?!

Fashion Friday: We Wear Short Skirts
Outfit Detials
Shirt (similar) / Skirt / Boots / Earrings (similar)
It's finally Friday!! Was it just me or did this week feel infinite? It's funny how trends change over time, I remember back in the day short denim skirts with distressed unfinished hems were "in" (at least my middle school grunge self thought so) and now the 70s style skirts are making a comeback which I am totally fine with. I have noticed that even though I am on the shorter side - clothes these days keep getting shorter! To make sure I don't feel to uncomfortable and well, exposed I sometimes wear bicycle shorts underneath skirts and dresses which come in handy on those windy days!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Viva Las Vegas
Hello everyone! I have some exciting news, in three days I will be sitting on a plane to Las Vegas! If you told me I would be doing this a year ago I would not have believed you - as a person who doesn't gamble and tries to avoid large crowds as much as possible I don't particularly fit into the "Vegas" lifestyle, however when your entire family wants to take a trip, you go no questions asked. Don't get me wrong though, I am SUPER pumped about seeing the live performances, the strip, and tasting the food - not to mention I get a chance to cross something off my bucket list and see the Grand Canyon! When one is packing for such a trip, I knew there had to be a fair amount of sequins involved (let's face it, I am always looking for an excuse to wear something shiny) but I also needed to add some comfortable sensible things for the day trips.

Warm Weather Wishes
Living in Texas, I am pretty sure we skipped winter all together this year. It's already creeping up into the 80s so I am reluctantly putting away my sweaters and jackets and preparing myself for the inevitable heat. It's not all bad though - I finally get to rock the knee high gladiators this year! Have you ever worn those? They feel weird am I right?! But there's something about them that looks so awesome with a casual dress or denim shorts. So along with those bad boys I plan on rocking some pastel colors and an excessive amount of tassel accessories. What trends do you look forward to this coming spring/summer?

Fashion Friday: On trend
Happy Friday everyone! I actually got off work early today and got my hair cut for the first time in a year so that's awesome! Still trying to get back into doing more fashion posts, these are some pictures from the last time we were in Jax. I've seen these boots on so many bloggers and fashion forums lately and I just had to get some - probably not the most practical or comfortable investment but I love them nonetheless.
