I have seen this recipe floating around the world wide web (yes, I still use that phrase) for quite some time now and today I finally decided to try it out. Apparently you can season chick peas, stick them in the oven, and they turn into a delicious crunchy snack. WE SHALL SEE.
This recipe is super versatile, if you're not a fan of Indian spices (*cough cough freak *cough cough) then you can sub out for any of the spices or oils below:
garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, bacon grease, sugar, cinnamon. (among other things...)
I like the seasonings I used, they remind me of zesty boiled peanuts.
Oven Roasted Chickpeas (Indian Style)
1 can of unseasoned chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp yellow curry powder
1 tsp lemon oil (if you don't have lemon oil you can just add a tsp of fresh lemon juice to some olive oil)
1 TBS olive or vegetable oil
Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 400
2.Toss all ingredients in a bowl and spread evenly unto a baking dish and bake for 30-40min. mix the beans every 10 minutes or so.
*You might hear some sizzling sounds coming from the oven, don't panic! It's just the water coming out of the peas.
3. Cool peas completely for optimum crunchiness

These peas aren't super crunchy (I expected almost a corn nut like texture) they have a crunchy shell on the outside and were softer on the inside. Delicious! Needless to say, I definitely got my days worth of fiber...meaning I ate them all...every single one.
