Tips and Tricks for a Do It Yourself Wedding

So if you follow this blog pretty regularly, you'll know that I have been engaged for a couple of months now (here is the post) but I haven't shared much about what's going on in the world of wedding planning. I was never that girl who dreamed about this moment since I was little, in fact I was convinced that I would instead be married to my career and live in the mountains along with my 10 cats and two dachshunds (and I was totally fine with this). I did not start envisioning my own wedding until after about a year of dating Lewis. I knew I didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, #1 because, well, I don't have a ridiculous amount of money and #2 I think it's frivolous and selfish. I also knew I was a fan of vintage decor and that I wanted the decor to reflect our personal styles. By going through culinary school and taking a catering class, I had a little bit of background info about hosting a wedding (emphasis on little). I am by no means an expert but these are some websites I found to be handy. I will also be sharing some of my DIY projects in the near future, so stay tuned!

Some links I found useful:
Amazon.com for cheap mason jars in bulk, burlap ribbon, table runners, etc.
Minted.com for unique invitations, food labels, and other paper decor.
Shanty Chic for free printables and DIY projects
Sam's Club for bulk flowers at half the price you would spend at a flourist
Etsy.com for a personalized wedding stamp for favors, decor, etc.
theknot.com for budget tracking, decor inspiration, and checklists
WeddingChicks.com for cute free printables, products, and local vendors.
Thebudgetsavvybride.com
crafting.squidoo.com for paper flower tutorials
TheFind.com for vintage cake stands and other food displays
