Sermet's Corner (Now Sermet's Downtown)

Looking back on my photo albums I found this gem Sermet's Corner in my food reviews. Located on the main street (king to be precise) of Charleston South Carolina, we stumbled upon this artsy cafe on a whim. It's been a couple of years but I remember this meal like it was yesterday...

Impatient waiting face..

Lewis ordered the crab cake sandwich topped with a roasted red pepper remoulade. It was his first experience with a crab sandwich so he was slightly hesitant but his faith was fully restored upon taking the first bite. The crab cake was perfectly crispy on both sides and well accompanied by the slightly zesty spices in the pepper spread. The sweet potato fries were good as well.

I ordered the salmon salad which was grilled and served with poached pears, Gorgonzola cheese and a mango green apple champagne vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked perfectly (which is rare for a restaurant) and the vinaigrette was one of the best I've ever had. I hate it when a vinaigrette is overpowered with acidity but this one had the perfect balance of sweetness from the mango and tang from the green apple. Definitely one of my top salads.

With it's fun fresh menu items and somewhat out of the ordinary flavor pairings, I will definitely make a return visit to Sermet's!
