Crater Lake National Park

Finally made the trek down to the beautiful Crater Lake this past summer! Years back I thought crater lake was formed by a giant meteorite but it turns out that it was an imploding mountain which is pretty hardcore. While we were only here for a day, we were able to see quite a bit of the park. I would recommend starting at the visitors center then working your way around to each viewpoint...

Exploring Wild Oregon

We spent an entire day surrounded by the wonderful forests of Oregon. Coming from the south where beaches and palm trees are the standard, I am always amazed and delighted at the sight of mountains. There's something about being surrounded by something that completely engulfs you and seems endless, you'd think it would make you feel uneasy but it makes life seem more simple somehow.

There's an endless amount of hiking trails about 30 min. outside Portland. We stopped by Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge be warned though, these trails can be challenging so make sure you're geared up appropriately (this is no place for semi-stylish footwear). Also, make sure you get a map of the trails at the Falls before adventuring to the Gorge, we found this out the hard way.

An Ode To Mushrooms

This past week we got to go on a mini-vacation to the mountains! Despite growing up in Florida I have always craved being in the mountains, to me they offer so much more diverse and interesting sites - better tree varieties, wildlife, waterfalls, etc. some things you NEVER get to see in the deep south. I don't know why but I have always found mushrooms to be attractive, which is odd when you think about it considering they are a fungus and some of them don't have the most pleasant odor. During this trip I noticed so many different varieties of mushrooms, not sure if it was the weather or if September is officially shroom season in Georgia but either way, I enjoyed photographing these beauties.

(Look for more vacation pics soon!)
